Showcasing contemporary art from Africa and the world

With a focus on women artists and emerging talent from Africa and the diaspora, the 2018 Fair was the biggest yet, featuring 95 exhibitors, half of whom were internationals, highlighting a growing appetite for contemporary African art abroad.

Commenting on the aim of the Fair, Laura Vincenti, Fair Director, said, “By providing a platform to showcase works by both established and emerging Pan-African and diasporic artists and exposing these artists to new local and international audiences and collectors, Investec Cape Town Art Fair has the ability to further a sustainable market for the arts on the continent.”

Talking to Investec about the fair’s growth, curator and academic Andrew Lamprecht said, “Six years ago we started with the Cape Town Art Fair in a tent outside the waterfront. It was much smaller, there were far fewer galleries and no international galleries. Now we’re in this incredible venue, it’s highly professional and has the most amazing artists from around the world and some of the best artists the continent has to show.”
